Reed Smith today announced the promotion of 43 counsel and associates to partner and 32 of its associates to counsel, effective January 1, 2019. The 2019 partner cohort is the firm’s largest ever, spanning 15 offices – 10 in the United States, and five in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Sixteen of the new partners are female, comprising 37 percent of the partner cohort; 17 of the new counsel are female, comprising 53 percent of the counsel cohort. 

“Our new partners and counsel are notably diverse, exceptionally capable, and represent a broad range of practices and geographies across our global platform,” said Casey Ryan, Reed Smith’s Global Head of Legal Personnel and a member of the firm’s Senior Management Team, the firm’s governing body. “Each of them is very well prepared to continue serving Reed Smith’s current clients by offering the highest level of legal services, helping to expand our presence and reputation around the world, and becoming leaders of the future. We expect great things from these 75 individuals.”

Emily E. Garrison, a member of the Insurance Recovery Group, handles coverage disputes across diverse industry sectors through mediation, arbitration, and litigation.

David F. Hayes, a member of the Financial Industry Group, focuses his practice on leveraged and other debt financing transactions.

Robert L. McCann III is a member of the Global Corporate Group who concentrates his practice on M&A, private equity, and debt and equity financing transactions.

Lloyd A. Lim is a member of the Financial Industry Group whose practice focuses on representing secured lenders, landlords, post-petition lenders, asset purchasers, bond holders, and other unsecured creditors and creditors’ committees.

Kasey J. Curtis, a member of the Appellate Group, represents a diverse range of clients in complex matters at the trial and appellate levels.

Mara D. Curtis is a member of the Labor & Employment Group whose practice is principally devoted to counseling and litigating wage and hour matters.
